So you have access to cannabis, now how do you know which one to buy?

Just like a helpful guide at the produce section of your grocery store can tell you which apples are best for baking and how to pick the best melons, one Colorado-based cannabis provider is giving away a free guide to evaluating cannabis. It’s called S.T.A.T.S., which stands for sight, touch, aroma, taste and sensation.

“Just as American consumers have become more knowledgeable about quality wine and craft beer, Good Chemistry Nurseries’ S.T.A.T.S. guide will help consumers quickly and easily assess high quality cannabis,” said Matthew Huron, CEO, Good Chemistry.

It’s a comprehensive guide to learn how to identify a healthy, clean flower that’s right for your symptoms. For instance, Weed 101 dictates that bud with seeds is a big no-no, and most regular users know that bud that’s trimmed too much or too little doesn’t look quite right – but what does ideal trim look like? This S.T.A.T.S. guide has you covered.

The S.T.A.T.S. guide also points out the less common irregularities. Pictured below is a photo of a plant growing yellow stamens. The caption below adds that some people call them “bananas”, and it happens when the plant hermaphrodites.

If your plant is B-A-N-A-N-A-S, stay away!

The packet also debunks some myths.

  • Some studies have shown pain relief and relaxation with a higher CBD to THC ratio.
  • A high THC percentage doesn’t necessarily mean it will produce the most significant lift.
  • THC percentage isn’t the only factor that goes into the lift.
  • A lower THC percentage may provide a stronger lift depending on the strain and the cannabinoids and terpenoids within it.

It’s important to know the quality of your cannabis and with helpful diagrams, this handy guide provides a ton of information that can arm you with even better, more pointed questions to ask your budtender.

high quality

The guide was developed by master grower, Matthew Huron to evaluate the essential aspects of the cannabis flower. The work was a collaboration of decades of knowledge from Colorado-based master cultivators Duncan Cameron, Scott Toland, Heath Byington, and Stephen Spinosa. poor quality

The initial print run was gone in two days. Now, in their second print run of 100,000, the guide is hitting the streets of Colorado again – but you don’t have to take a weedcation to Colorado for a copy. Free downloads are currently available on their website, here.

On a personal note, Good Chemistry in Denver was home to my first adult-use cannabis purchase. I had a wonderful experience with their excellent budtender, Brendyn Bell, who answered all of my questions. I also noticed that every strain is priced at $30 per 1/8, every day. “We don’t have pricing tiers or shelf tiers. Just a great product at a great price,” they explain on their website.
