Kahuna is a 50/50 hybrid with an impressive lineage of industry-standard fan favorites. Kahuna is a relatively potent cross between Super Skunk, Big Skunk Korean, Jack Herer, and Afghan Hawaiian. While the exact THC content seems to be unknown at this point, experts estimate that Kahuna is right around 22% THC. Many legal users and medical cannabis patients seem to think that Kahuna is a perfect blend of the best aspects of both indica and sativa – providing a warm, fuzzy, relaxing effect from the heady indica while still promoting creativity and conversation from the uplifting sativa.

Appearance/ Aroma/ Taste

The intact flowers of the Kahuna strain smell like tropical fruit, living up to its island name. The strain is not overwhelming fruity, however, despite the dank pungent smell of a bag of Kahuna. This is definitely another strain you should be discreet with if you’re looking to avoid your clothes or car smelling entirely like cannabis. Skunky and earthy undertones are also noted, with these aromas coming out more when buds are broken up or put through a grinder. When consumed, users report prominent flavors of orange, pineapple and a hint of peppery skunk.

Medicating Effects

Medical cannabis patients and legal recreational users have reported that the medicating effects of Kahuna can be extremely relaxing and calming, almost to the point of sedation due to its potent indica lineage. On the flip side, the effects from this strain seem to also be uplifting and pleasant, which encourages conversation and can nurture creativity. This strain does not seem to have that much of a negative impact on the focus of its users, despite its often intense calming and relaxing effects.

Kahuna hasn’t been reported to give users too many cases of the munchies, so patients looking to treat eating disorders and stimulate appetite might be better served looking elsewhere. This strain seems to be one that causes a lot of dry eyes and cottonmouth, so be sure to drink plenty of water with this one, especially in this hot summer heat.

Because the Kahuna strain is as equally relaxing as it is uplifting, it is perfect for treating clinical depression. This strain can also be very effective in relieving pain and stress, and could treat insomnia and mild headaches.

Have you tried Kahuna? Is it your favorite strain? If not, what is? Let us know in the comments section and maybe we’ll do a review on it!
