An important aspect of any professional career is attending trade shows, networking and creating lasting business relationships. As the legal cannabis industry inevitably expands, the need for these types of events do as well. The event organizers at CannaCon 2017 have that goal in mind.

According to their website, CannaCon is the largest cannabis trade show in the world. Their mission statement starts with helping to create and strengthen partnerships in the cannabis industry. They aim to provide a global venue for businesses, entrepreneurs, investors, and community partners to showcase industry products and innovations. They also seek to cultivate business values within the industry through education and responsible community involvement.

CannaCon currently has three events upcoming this year. The first one will take place in Seattle, Washington from February 16-18. The second will be held in Santa Rosa, California from April 20-22, 2017. Closing out the convention year, the third CannaCon is scheduled to happen in Anchorage, Alaska on September 9th and 10th.

The already sold-out event in Anchorage will feature 65 exhibitors, 25 speakers and hundreds of industry professionals and pioneers. Kicking off the launch of Alaska’s recreational cannabis market, the expo will fill the entire third floor of the Dena’ina Center in downtown Anchorage. Speakers will entertain and educate event attendees on a wide range of topics, such as the latest in breeding techniques, grow room technology, extraction methodology, “interpreting,” and marketing.

Believe it or not, Alaska has allowed limited home grow and private personal possession since the 1970s. In November 2014, Alaska became the 4th state in the U.S. to fully legalize recreational cannabis, along with Colorado, Washington, Oregon and the District of Columbia. Three years later, the legal Alaskan recreational cannabis market is finally ready to be set into motion.

Events like these only continue to solidify and legitimize the cannabis industry as an important one that should be taken very seriously. If the event in Alaska is as successful as their previous ones, more states should jump on board with legal recreational cannabis.

Have you attended any previous CannaCon events, or are you planning to attend one this year? Have you been to any other similar Cannabis Conventions and have experiences you’d like to share? Please let us know in the comments.
