So it’s fairly common knowledge now that when some people have an opinion, its solid – no matter what facts can be given, what they think is what they think and nothing will change that. It’s an unfortunate thing to see this day in age when so much is changing and evolving around us each and every day that passes.

It’s even worse when someone cannot take hear the truth – continue to spread their own pre-determined opinion as fact, EVEN when it is completely hypocritical.

It’s been almost two weeks into 2016 and we’ve already got the next petition to bring a hypocrite out of office! This petition is to remove Debbie Wasserman Schultz from her position as the Chair of the National Democratic Committee.

The reason for this? Okay, she didn’t go as far as the DEA chief did by calling medical marijuana a joke – but she did make some pretty bad statements, sticking to old world beliefs on marijuana.

“I just don’t think we should legalize more mind-altering substances if we want to make it less likely that people travel down the path toward using drugs,” Schultz told the New York Times. “We have had a resurgence of drug use instead of a decline. There is a huge heroin epidemic.”

As if it weren’t bad enough she made it sound like marijuana legalization could possibly have a relation to the recent years heroin epidemic, she was also making a huge hypocrite of herself – and it didn’t go unnoticed!

Schultz has actually taken donations from multiple companies in the alcohol industry as recently as this election cycle. As far as mind-altering drugs goes, I’m pretty sure alcohol should be way up there – how many people have decided they were Superman while they were drunk, honestly?

The companies which donated in total nearly $20,000 include Bacardi USA, the National Beer Wholesalers Association and the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America. On top of that, these and potentially others from the alcohol industry also donated money in 2010 to defeat California’s Prop 19, which would have legalized cannabis throughout the state.

This kind of reasoning just doesn’t make much sense to me – and apparently it didn’t make much sense to others either. Is the alcohol industry afraid of being taken over? Colorado already proved that is unlikely to happen.

Either way – people like Debbie Wasserman Schultz need to start watching what they compare cannabis to – these days, the support is growing and it’s not likely to slow down – and we’re tired of hearing how horrible a drug cannabis is, when there is more evidence out there of benefits than dangers.
