It’s not an understatement to say that edibles is one of the most popular ways to consume cannabis and has been for decades, and actually centuries. However, all the edibles you normally think of are man made, created either with raw cannabis flowers cooked down into cannabutter or oil – never have we considered the possibility of a naturally occurring cannabis edible.
Cannahoney is something that has long been attempted, but never in a way quite like this. Since 2006, a beekeeper enthusiast who calls himself Nicolas Trainerbees has been trying to combine his love for beekeeping and his love and believe in marijuana as a medicine.
The man had already trained his bees to eat the sugars from fruits rather than flowers – providing a distinct taste to their honey. The thought struck him that perhaps the secret to the perfect Cannahoney could be to train the bees to feast on the resin coating the cannabis plants. It took from 2006 until 2013, but he finally saw the results he was looking for.
The bees were indeed trained to consume the resinous crystals of the cannabis plant – and in turn the psychoactive THC was transferred to the honey the worker bees produced. The effect was the same with both high THC and high CBD strains – the effects you would expect from those strains were magnified when consumed through the all-natural honey.
“For some time I had known about the health benefits of bee products such as honey, propolis, pollen, wax and royal jelly and also about the benefits of cannabis,” he explained. “Everything that passes through the body of a bee is improved,” he (Nicolas Trainerbees) added.
One thing that concerned activists against the idea of using bees to create Cannahoney was the fact that he could be harming the bees – getting them high so to speak. Well, good news for the activists, but it appears that THC and CBD have absolutely no effect on them whatsoever.
“The bees that produce the cannahoney are not affected by cannabinoids because they do not have an endocannabinoid system,” he explained. “It’s just another form of food for them.”
The honey produced by the bees is said to have an especially floral flavor to it – which can vary in taste and strength depending on the strain the bees feasted upon. The end result is a creamy golden honey with extremely positive medicating potential. This really is truly amazing – not only has someone possibly perfected Cannahoney, but they have also in the process discovered the first naturally occurring marijuana edible.
Can you buy this product
I would like to purchase some of this honey.
???? Bullshit. No such thing! Bees collect pollen and nectar…the nectar is what they remove the moisture from to call honey. Only male plants make pollen and nectar. Nice marketing scheme though! ????
So what you’re saying is there are no male marijuana plants? So you’re saying marijuana plants don’t produce any pollen at all that just kind of makes you sound stupid. Which brings me to a nobody listen to the stupid beekeeper.
What he is saying is you need nectar to make honey and there is no nectar in cannabis flowers. Which makes you kind of stupid for not picking that up.
TOTALLY CORRECT BECAUSE MARIJUANA PLANTS ARE AIR POLLINATED ONLY. ALSO MARIJUANA DOESN’T PRODUCE NECTAR WHAT SO EVER!!
THE ONLY POSSIBLE WAY CANNAHONEY CAN BE MADE IS BY HUMANS INFUSING THE MARIJUANA AND HONEY TOGETHER.
CHECK OUT cannahoney.ca
Not true. By making the bees collect nectar from other flowers it is possible to for the bees to make the cannahoney naturally
Beekeeper is right. Bees use resin to make propolis. They use that on their hives as a sealant. “Trainerbees” isn’t getting “cannahoney” out of these bees. He’s calling the propolis “cannahoney.” He should name his product something else. The name is misleading.
It is possible though for the bees to collect the resin from the plants, and bring it to the hive. Then have the bees collect nectar from other flowers to bring back to the hive after; thus making it possible for this process to occur if the bees were trained properly.
I want some sounds good
Am I the only one who is confused on how the heck one trains a bee?
Possibly forced to collect from only having one source.
