A trip to a legal cannabis dispensary provides an array of choices for cannabis connoisseurs. While some strains are more popular than others, some have become very hard to find. While not “extinct”, some strains have all but disappeared from mainstream access and have become legends, of sorts. Some of the rarer marijuana strains simply were not popular enough to make an impact on the legal commercial market, and others were replaced by hybrids that were easier to grow. Here are three cannabis strains that are considered “rare” and may be quite difficult to get your hands on.

Hawaiian Snow

Hawaiian Snow was once a popular sativa strain, and it was a winner in the 2003 Cannabis Cup. It was created through a cross of Neville’s Haze, Pure Haze, and Hawaiian Haze. Hawaiian Snow has long been sought after for its amazing effects on users. Many describe feeling a heady and cerebral buzz that is both uplifting and energizing, making it a great choice for daytime use or social interactions. The THC content is around 16%. Hawaiian Snow reportedly tastes unique, with a mix of tropical citrus and pine. The aroma is also interesting and said to be somewhat spicy with hints of sweet citrus and eucalyptus.

Bubba OG

Bubba OG, sometimes referred to as “OG Bubba”, is a potent indica strain. THC levels are typically around 17% but can be as high as 25% in some areas. The exact genetics of Bubba OG are unknown, but some claim the strain was created by crossing Pre-98 Bubba Kush with Ghost OG. Others believe that the genetics are somehow derived from the original OG Kush. Bubba OG’s effects are felt primarily in the body, creating feelings of sleepiness and heavy relaxation. The aroma of Bubba OG is said to be almost floral, while the flavor is often described as a combination of sweet and earthy.

Sweet Tooth

Sweet Tooth is an indica strain that won first place in the 2011 Cannabis Cup. It was created by crossing Nepali and Hawaiian. The THC levels in Sweet Tooth are around 19%, and its effects are primarily feelings of happiness and euphoria. Users also report feeling a little relaxed and sleepy. The taste is what you might expect based on the name, as the flavors are sweet with hints of berry and flowers. The aroma is similar, and consumers say it smells very fragrant and sweet but also earthy.
