Wana Brands has eliminated the use of high-fructose corn syrup in its popular cannabis-infused gummies product, shifting instead to a health-conscious alternative of organic sugar and tapioca syrup. Developed over months of research and development, the new organic sugar and tapioca syrup sweetener provides Wana Cannabis-Infused Sour Gummies the same great taste while adding only three grams of sugar per gummie – less than what is typically found in a piece of candy, a serving of fruit-flavored yogurt or even a serving of salad dressing.

“Wana Brands listened to our customers’ concerns about high-fructose corn syrup, and we spent months searching for the perfect organic sweetener substitute that would not sacrifice our products’ taste and texture,” said Nancy Whiteman, CEO, Wana Brands. “And even though our new organic sugar and tapioca syrup costs more to use, it is an organic ingredient alternative that our customers deserve and have come to expect from our premium cannabis-infused edibles recipes.”

The largest cannabis-infused edibles producer in North America has long embraced a commitment to creating the highest-quality edibles. The company has innovated throughout its history, introducing products featuring vegan, kosher and gluten-free recipes made from all-natural ingredients. Typically, products with organic ingredients cost between 10 to 20% more than non-organic food and dietary products. Although all-natural organic ingredients typically increase manufacturing costs, Wana will not pass the increased cost to consumers.

“Wana Brands infused-edible products always have been a good choice for health-conscious and active consumers,” Whiteman said. “Now that we have removed high-fructose corn syrup from our gummies, consumers have one more great reason to experience our cannabis-infused gummies.”

The company’s new all-organic sweetener was developed using tapioca syrup, which comes from a starch extracted from the roots of South America’s cassava plant. In addition to the company’s all-natural recipes, Wana uses high-quality THC distillate enhanced with more than 30 unique terpenes that are carefully curated to create potent, class-specific blends of cannabis-infused products. Wana Brands makes the ingredient transition in the Colorado market first, with medical gummies and out-of-state markets to follow soon after.
