Jeff Sessions just cannot seem to stay out of the headlines. It is pretty hard to believe some of things that come out of his mouth regarding medical cannabis, and one has to wonder if he truly believes these absurdities. After months of making some absolutely absurd statements about cannabis, including “good people don’t smoke marijuana” and denying the facts about the myriad of medicinal uses the versatile plant gives us, he’s in the headlines again. This time, a celebrity cannabis advocate puts him in his place – in a ‘peace and love’ kind of way, of course. That cannabis advocate/ activist is none other than the legendary Willie Nelson himself.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Willie gave some memorable quips about the current presidential administration, including a one-of-a-kind suggestion for Sessions, delivered in a way that only Willie can. When asked about Sessions saying that weed is ‘only slightly less awful’ than heroin, Willie said: “I wonder if he’s tried both of them. I don’t think you can really make a statement like that unless you tried it all. So I’d like to suggest to Jeff to try it and then let me know later if he thinks he’s still telling the truth!”

After being pressed on his opinion on the rest of the Trump presidency, Willie was diplomatic yet firm in his assessment of the administration, saying that he knew Trump back when he owned some casinos, and Willie worked for Trump and always was paid on time. Willie alluded to the fact that Trump might not have known what he was getting into being president. “I think he’s stepped into a different world. Like Trump said, morning, ‘I had no idea this job was going to be this hard,’” Willie said.

Finishing off the interview, Willie said something that many fellow musicians can likely concur with: “I can do more with music than you can with arguments and politics. I think a song will reach more people than any other thing. There’s a reason that it’s called ‘harmony’. When you play a show, there’s an energy exchange with the people that is unimaginable. It’s the reason I still go out there.”

What do you think? Does Jeff Sessions actually believe the crazy stuff that he has said about cannabis? Or, is he pandering to the now minority of American people that still hold the antiquated prohibitionist mindset? Let us know in the comments.

  1. I think Jeff Sessions should take off his big b o y suit , and stop pretending he’s an educated man who has heard the facts and go stand in the corner next to Christie , and take turns putting on the dunce cap . He’s such a man baby spewing reefer madness redric. The best thing he can do for the country is eat the brownies , and climb out of the 1950’s .

  2. For a plant that never caused any harm or death in history in fact has medical benefits. Why are there so many untruths about cannabis. What is the government afraid of people wont have to take as many pills that have bad side effects I’m 65 years old with chronic pain cannabis helps me in so many ways.It helps with pain management mood control and it kills cancer, what so damaging about that,it helps our military with P.T.S.D and many other things. It’s time to regulate cannabis like alcohol. And stop the nonsense, tax revenues would be amazing It’s a win win!

  3. I am not sure Sessions believes what he is saying. I do believe he is saying he knows best how to control popular opinion. You say untruth , then achieve a platform to say it over and over again was great at one time. People tested the Medical Cannabis industry and found out on their own how powerful the Truth is.. Sessions needs to find the real truth on his own. I am one of those people who found out on my own if Medical Cannabis would help me.

  4. Whats so hard about understanding that people can check out your statements on the internet? There’s a mindset out there that has a lot in common with true believers when it comes to Cannabis. Facts are unfortunate inconveniences that need to be ignored by them. their mantra is “I’ve already made up my mind so don’t confuse me with the facts.” Somehow they ignore that the Big lies like “Reefer Madness” and “This is your mind on drugs” are counter productive to their cause and just keep on using the same tactics that didn’t work in the past.
There’s a definition of insanity that fits that policy.
Now all we need is a few less sheeple and a few more thinking people.
By the way, next time you thank a Vet for our service how about helping to ensure the rights we fought for and let us grow our own.

  5. I HAVE BEEN CONNECTED TO. CANNABIS OFF AND ON SINCE JUNE 1970. SMOKED FOR 25 YEARS QUIT IN 1995. DIDN’T SMOKE OR INGEST TILL MAY 2013. LIVED IN AURORA,COLORADO FOR 35 YEARS. WAS IN COLORADO WHEN LEGALIZED JAN.2013. GREW MY FIRST LEGAL PLANT THAT YEAR. I DIDN’T SMOKE THE FIRST 5 MONTHSIT WAS LEGAL. ALWAYS SAID UT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU COULD SMOKE ON YOUR BACK PORCH AND NOT WORRY ABOUT THE COPS BUSTING DOWN YOUR FRT DOOR. THAT IS WHAT IT’S LIKE IN COLORADO NOW. I HAVE ARTHRITIS THROUGH MY BODY. GOT MY DISABILITY BUT DON’T LIVE IN COLORADO ANYMORE. OHIO LAWS DIFFERENT. CAN’T GO TO MEDICAL MARIJUANA STORE SO BUYING OFF THE STREET AGAIN. NEED TO CHANGE THE LAWS NATIONAL.

  6. Either Jeff (Howdy Dowdy) is really a dumbass, or the Private Prisons have him in some way. It’s all about the money. That or the American public should ask for his resignation on the grounds that he just plain can’t keep up. His BS was 40, 50 years ago. Jeff, wake up and smell the coffee it’s 2017. People are moving on with life, change is LIFE. And as I recall as a govt. worker you work for the people not your own ideas. That’s more of a Communist thought, ruling the people by your beliefs. Over 60% want Marijuana legal, where have you been? Is your Anterior up your Posterior? That’s a valid question. It’s a reasonable inquire.

  7. I think he believes it. I place him right there with Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachman. Clueless, Heartless, and oh so affiliated with for-profit prisons. He should, of course, be a resident of one.

  8. I’m a Willie fan but consider – the man is paying the price for smoking so much pot. He has been diagnosed with emphysema and has oxygen on the bus. He blames it on cigarette smoking from years ago, but that’s just denial. Is the cigarette smoking also the reason that (according to Rolling Stone) he forgets what he’s already played on stage and has to be cued about the next number? Or is it short term memory loss? Research shows that the amount of pot you smoke over the years also has a linear relationship with your intelligence. It’s a fascinating drug, but no drug is a panacea or an answer to all of mankind’s problems. “Might as well start puffin,” as Willie is wont to say, is not something to build the foundation of a strong society on.

    • PS, your research has to do with adolescents not adults & you would do well to look at veterans & 1st responders with PTSD, children with intractable seizures, people with anxiety ( many of them have anxiety from people who profess to be experts on cannabis at the expense of those who need it), Multiple Sclerosis, etc.
By the way, are you saying there are studies on Cannabis we can look at that are t paid for by Big Pharmacy or Alcohol?
      #IgnoranceKills

    • One more thing, all artists eventually forget a song or two they’ve written years ago & he’s never been “cued” . How many night do you perform?

He’s never advocated for young people smoking until their bodies are formed & you need an education on “short term memory loss.”

Also, he’s 84…let’s check you at 84 huh?

  9. Willie is spot on. Don’t knock it till ya try it. I was treated by a natural path on an inner ear infection drs couldn’t get rid of so a naturalpath treated it with a hemp base and it cleared up in 2 days. Wish stubborn was not a thing, if Dr’s and Naturopaths s could work together and conservatives and liberals could stick with the facts instead of stereotypes wed all be better off and rope would be cheaper! preventative is as important as cure.

  10. Dear John,
Willie Nelson was diagnosed with emphysema when he smoked cigarettes-he stopped then & just turned 84, does a show nearly every night & can probably kick your it’s. Get your facts straight man!

  11. Sorry, meant kick your ass. By the way, he only does oxygen when he plays Denver…like every other artist-with or without emphysema.

If it wasn’t for Cannabis-he wouldn’t be here now. Wake up & smell the turpines!

      • Beware of condemning things you don’t understand & worse speaking for other’s medical conditions you know nothing about. Sanctimony is a drug too. Meet some families who’ve benefitted before you spew your bias & no one ever said it should t be treated the same as you would alcohol or pharmaceuticals-don’t give them to your kids unless prescribed. It’s really that simple.

  12. Im with willie and ive been smoking 42 years i developed lung cacer its not from smoklng pot its from insulation this cancer usually goes to the brain but my doctor says because i smoke pot its kept the cancer from going to my brain i havent suffered any memory loss.and whats going on with willie is called old age look ot up.and pot dont give you empazima cigerettes does .like sessons you need to know your facts.and dont blame what you dont know. My cancer dr.told me to smoke all the weed i want too. And he is a doctor and like sessons your not.

  13. To Mr.Sessions ,Good people do smoke marijuana. Stick with fighting terrorism, & leave the good people to responsibly utilize cannabis. Marijuana never hurt anyone, in fact it’s help a lot of people.
