When most people think of German engineering, they might be thinking of auto manufacturers like BMW or Mercedes. When we think of German engineering, we think of the OG manufacturer of vaporizers, Storz and Bickel. Their famous Mighty portable vaporizer was the king of the mountain back when it was released in 2014. Here in 2019, they have added a larger battery life onto a device with a proven track record. The Mighty still features all of the same qualities that made it so popular, like a user-friendly interface, wide-range precision controls, a powerful hybrid heating system, and top-notch vapor quality.

Build Quality

The Mighty is so tough, rugged and well-made, you might think that it was a piece of industrial equipment manufactured by Black and Decker. Storz and Bickel is a brand that stands the test of time and is built to endure. The same holds true for their vaporizers. Accidentally dropping the Mighty vaporizer a few times probably won’t hurt it at all, but we don’t recommend testing that. Even though the Mighty is a high-quality device and well-built, plastic isn’t the best material for a portable vaporizer. The plastic isn’t cheap by any means, but we would rather see it constructed of stainless steel or aluminum.

Most defects are usually honored by Storz and Bickel in a fast manner because the company has some great customer service and their products come with comprehensive warranties. One thing to keep in mind is that the Mighty certainly lives up to its name. This device is on the larger side for a portable vaporizer, so if discreetness is something you’re going for, you might want to look elsewhere. While the device is portable, there are devices on the market that are much more portable.

Ease of Use

Just like its sibling the Crafty, the Mighty from Storz and Bickel is straightforward and easy to use. We recommend grinding your dry herbs to a medium-fine grind to get the best performance and airflow from your device. To use the Mighty, twist off the cooling unit and load up the chamber with your material. Be sure not to pack the chamber too tightly, to allow even heating and solid vapor production. Just pop the mouthpiece back on and you’re ready for a tasty rip!

To turn the unit on, simply hold down the power button and use the plus/ minus buttons to choose your desired temperature. It heats up in about 90 seconds, depending on which vape temperature you choose. The Mighty comes with a handy packing tool for your dry herbs, which makes it even more simple to use. Most consumers get about 12 hits off of each packed bowl before they need to load another one.

Temperature Flexibility

The Mighty has one of the best temperature ranges of any vaporizer available –  104-410°F, or 40–210°C. While this range is awesome for dry herbs, it’s probably best to purchase a wax pen that is specifically designed for concentrates, if that’s what you are into.

Vapor Quality

It comes as no surprise that the vapor quality and production with the Mighty is top-shelf. Each draw is flavorful and delicious, with terpene profiles of your favorite strains shining through. The higher temperatures allow for some thick, milky clouds.

Battery Life

The latest Mighty features an upgraded battery over the older models, lasting for about 8-10 sessions on a single charge. The device takes about 2 hours to fully charge, which isn’t bad at all for such a powerful unit.

Accessories

Storz and Bickel always delivers when it comes to accessories. In addition to the unit itself, you get extra o-rings and screens, a pad for liquid, a handy loading tool, a grinder made of plastic, a dosing capsule, a brush for cleaning, and a user’s guide.

Conclusion

The Mighty was the King of the Mountain about 5 years ago, and it still holds its own even today, despite all of the serious competition it now has. With that in mind, it’s not a perfect vape. The plastic build doesn’t feel cheap, but it would have been nice if S&B added the option for a Mighty made from either stainless steel or aluminum. Doing that would have made it even more mighty and solid. While the Mighty vaporizer does have dual-functionality and the option to vape waxes and oils, its max temperature is still a bit on the low side to optimally vape concentrates. We would have liked to see the manufacturers offer a concentrate mode with their updated version of the Mighty vaporizer.

Despite these grievances we have with the Mighty, it’s still a great device. It now has an upgraded battery life to go along with its excellent vapor quality, user-friendly design, durable build hybrid heating, and precision controls. The Mighty is built tough, performs well, lasts long and does not disappoint most owners. We would recommend the Mighty for any newbie who has a bit of extra coin to spend on a first vape, or for an experienced consumer who is looking to expand their vaporizer collection.
